About
How can we involve students in leveraging space technologies in achieving the UN SDGs?
The SpaceHACK 4 Sustainability Hackathon is a two-day event designed to engage students and faculty in addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through innovative use of satellite data. Participants form small groups to develop presentations on how satellite imagery can contribute to solving critical issues such as sustainable groundwater usage in Nepal, wildfire risk reduction and the impacts of climate change on Brazilian favelas. Utilizing satellite data analyzed with Google Earth Engine, teams present their solutions to a panel of judges, with prizes awarded for outstanding projects. This initiative aims to foster collaboration and creativity in tackling pressing global challenges while promoting education in space technology and sustainability.
